What is the Project
Around 80% of amputees suffer from pain or irritation from the missing limb. This is notoriously hard to treat, and can severly affect quality of life. We are investigating the use of game-based treatment for this “phantom limb pain”. We are working closely with patients, therapists and doctors to create software which will be effective, affordable and easily accessible.
The chronic (and often severe) pain suffered by amputees can impact every part of their lives, from sleep to employment. Current treatments can be time-consuming, costly or have significant side effects. We aim to empower patients to manage their pain more effectively, reducing the need for clinic visits or medication.
